How-to Connect With Your Viewer: Three Essential Video Tips

I help a lot of local business owners, consultants, and entrepreneurs develop videos. When coaching them on their delivery, I emphasize three key points for their delivery.

Now I will say, they don’t always include them. I know, sometimes they get nervous and forget. But I’ve noticed that when they do include these delivery characteristics, their videos appear more authentic and genuine. Personally, I just like the conversational feel to them.

How about you? What video delivery tips do you have? Do you have any tips to appear more natural on video?

  1. Hi Scott,

    Thanks for the tips.

I made several screencasting combine with my video talking directly to the camera.

I found it is sometimes not easy to maintain the conversational style while talking in front of camera since you are not talking to the real people directly.

Do you have advice on this?

Muhammad, I always imagine a friend on the other side of the camera. I find this to be relaxing and that it yields a much more conversational style of delivery. I think that’s the key. We want our video to be “conversational” and not a presentation. Imagine a friend or significant other at the camera and I think your videos will have a different feel to them.

      • Hi Scott,

Thanks for your advice. I will try it in my next video recording.
I really appreciate your great work in this website.

You bet Muhammad. Just remember, like when you’re with a friend, be real and natural. Let your passion and compassion come thru to the viewer. You may not connect with everyone, but I bet you’ll end up connecting with your BEST viewers.

Let me know how it goes.

          • Muhammed, you could also try putting a teddy bar or some photograph behind your camera. I’ve heard people do that…

        • I agree with Vickie very much! Especially because I don’t hear very well and sihnowg stuff instead of presenting yourself would be of far more use to me than watching your face.Dee Reat recently posted..
